My Writing Principles - Chetan Bhagat
1) My reader’s interests always come first. My experience shows that if I serve readers well, my own success will follow.
2) I have two goals. My first goal is to make my readers happy. This can come from the enjoyment they get while reading the book, or a positive influence the book can become in their lives. My second goal is a personal agenda to do whatever I can to make India a developed country as soon as possible.
3) I take pride in having an Indian audience. I will strive for excellence to cater to them first. Though my books may be published abroad across various countries, if it came to a choice I’d rather be writing for Indians than anyone else.
4) Be simple yet articulate. The idea of writing is to express, not to impress.
5) Always try something new as that keeps me challenged. I will never arrive, and I don’t want to arrive. The game is to keep going.
6) Every reader is important. While the sheer number of readers may make it difficult to have a one-on-one interaction, reader feedback is to be taken very seriously.
7) The ‘celebrity’ factor is essential to promoting my work and fun to a certain extent. However, it is not an end-goal in itself or to be taken seriously. What matters is my work, not my face.
8 ) I am not working alone. While the books carry my name, there is a whole team behind that works relentlessly. The printers, salespeople, editors, promotion departments have all had a contribution in the book’s success. And of course, the biggest contribution is the readers who passionately recommend my books to others.
9) The connection my readers feel to me and my books is greater than one finds in most other books. I think this is an important part of my success.
10) I regularly receive mails from readers who open up about their lives. To breach their confidence and trust is unthinkable. Integrity and honesty is at the heart of my relationship with my readers
11) There is a lot of competition among books and authors. However, I must always be a fair competitor and must never criticize other books and authors. Similarly, all critical feedback is accepted and not to be argued with.
12) Irrespective of the above, never forget that the idea is for all connected to my books to have fun. Don’t be serious, be sincere. There is a difference.
That will be all for now.
Love,
Chetan

Someone had copied the extract for ‘3…’ and mailed it across to me. I loved it. I had loved Five Point Someone too, just by reading the excerpt. And something tells me this is going to be as interesting (or maybe more!!).
Would love to be at the launch of this book, but would be travelling throughout this month.
Is there any way, I can get a signed copy of this book from you??
Would really appreciate it!!

Dear Chetan,,,,,,,,,,,, Lots Of Love,,,,,,,,, yes you truly deserve the love of your readers,,,,,,, 2day it just happened that I was sitting idle in my office and thought to browse http://www.fivepointsomeone.com and I swear it was amazing to know that your third book is about to come. I’ve recently read your last two books and loved those. Only one thing I was missing in 5point…. and that is CHETAN with his own name,,,,,, why didnt you use your own name among characters????? I am still skeptical whether you are HARI or RYAN in your story?????? My conscious says you’re Hari but I want you to be Ryan [:)
Anyways I congratulate you for launch of your new book and wish you ALL THE BEST [:)][:P][:)]

Hi Chetan,
I am eagerly waiting for your third book, if it weren’t for Five point someone i would not ever have got into the reading habit. An unbeatable record for a girl like me, i manged to complete the book in a day…it kept me hooked and i just could not move my eyes from the most spectacularly crafted works I have seen before especially something so closely meant for the Indian audience. Since then i have read so many Indian writers only to find a reflection of yours in them (but no…nothing compared to your work). Like you mentioned in those points..you do not write to impress but for your readers. Though, people heavily crticise your style of writing saying its not literature…they do not understand what your books have done. I have so many guy (male) friends who would not pick up a book to save their lives….they called it bed time textbooks….But ask them who is Mr.Chetan Bhagat…they surely have a lot to talk about. Infact they thank me for the books i suggested and i feel proud that i got them into the habit of reading just through you (;-). And now that i know that i am going to be meeting you not as a reader but a reporter at your teh “books launch” in Mumbai, i surely have so much to ask you…apart from RYAN and HARI (Which i do not really care)…wanted to know how you manage to be so fascinating and captivating

Hi Chetan,
I have read both the novels, “Five Point Someone” and “One night @ the Call Center”. Best thing which I liked about these books is I as a reader seems like I am one among the character there…I can relate myself / my friends to certain characters in the novel. Its so, realistic….really very eagerly waiting for the third one, “The 3 mistakes of my Life”. Already told my friends and colleagues about your third one. We are all very impressed reading the excerpt. This gives the feel that even this is gonna be a super hit. So, you will be called a “Hatrick Writer” - Author of three successful Novel. Last but not the least…thanks a lot for giving us such lovely Novels which are so realistic and entertaining and also with good morals.

I don’t know that the story of your bok is fiction or real. But yes a call from GOD is part of every one life and we all receieve it at one point or other in life ,specially when we really want GOD to be with us.

On other note, eagerly waiting for ‘3′. My office is in powai and today is ur book launch. I wanted to meet you..but u hv scheduled the event at 7. That would make it difficult for me to come to Lower Parel this evening. I wish i could!
And i love the way you write. infact you were one of the influences that forced me to write..and i write here. http://www.godshandwriting.blogspot.com. Do check out!
I am advertising ur book in my own way. Just put up the book cover of ‘3′ as the wallpaper on my office comp. So my office colleagues get to know about your latest offering. See the effect of technology..wallpapers can serve as advertisements. [:)]

Hey Chetan,
I’m sure you’d be quite relieved after looking at all the crowd and media at Phoenix today. Or did it make you a little more nervous? I guess I did see a few veins of stress at the start but you were quite poised pretty soon. I don’t know what was more harrowing; the media, the crowd or the overall management of the event. My first book got crushed in the chaos. BUT, there are no complains I finally have a copy signed by you and that’s what matters. I totally agree to the fact that pricing the book at Rs. 95 must be a task in itself. Do accept appreciations gracefully by your readers as its gestures like these which do get noticed and truly complimented. Well I can’t wait to start the book and complete it at my earliest leisure. Will get back and tell you more about my experience. I hope and wish that I enjoy reading as much you did while you’re drafting it.

Hi Chetan,
As everybody have already expressed themselves about your great, great (and third time;)), great writing skills, so I am left with nothing to say but:
All hats off to an IITian. I have always dreamed to be one. And my dream got strengthened when I read your book, “Five Point Someone”. Rite now, I am waiting for my JEE result.
Thanks Chetan, for making us closer to our lives.:)
I’ve met you on your visit to Bhopal. And that was the time when you told us about your ‘REAL’ love story that how you and Anusha fell in love with each other sitting on one bench in IIMA classroom.
So before, I am done, please let me ask a question:
“Can we hope that in future, you would write a book containing your experiences of IIMA + your love story with Anusha??”
Thanks Chetan.

I completed reading ‘the 3 mistakes of my life’ and i must say, it is indeed very well written ! I’ve always loved your writing style and you did it again !
Loved your observation power..
Loved your description of Hyderabad..
Loved the views presented in this book about religion, politics and the result of mixing these two..
The best part i like about your books is that somehow you feel yourselves to be the characters at different points..
AND I’M EXTREMELY VERY HAPPY BECAUSE MOST PROBABLY I’M THE FIRST OR ATLEAST AMONGST THE FIRST ONES TO BUY YOUR BOOK !!
atleast no one in this blog have mentioned buying your book already !

hi chetan,
i was never an avid reader of fiction until i read FPS and ON@ACC .. the stories have significantly changed the way i looked at life and work related issues .. what i liked most about both the stories was that they were an honest, down-to-earth rendition of a common man’s life .. on the top of it, a crisp description of events in a simple language made it all the more interesting - i never read a line twice to understand what it meant!
u are gifted with an unique knack of expressing life’s complexities very simply but effectively - one that makes an impact and leaves a mark on ur readers’ minds .. no wonder, i completely agree with “Your Writing Principles” ..
i am a huge fan of ur work and eagerly look forward to enjoying the “experience” of reading The 3 Mistakes Of My Life .. i can say, it’ll be fun .. this summer, ur new book will definitely quench our thirst!
best wishes .. sandeepan
Comment by Sandeepan — May 11, 2008 @ 12:28 am
Hey Chetan,
Well, I took much longer than I expected to complete the book, but schedules are never supportive I guess. Well regarding the third book; The student from IIT, The executives making calls and now businessmen and sports fanatics. The characters, story lines and most importantly the author has developed with all books in the series. I liked this book equally as much as I miss the way FPS was written. Somehow I always associate Chetan Bhagat with FPS and the rest.
The 3 Mistakes, is a book which has left a strong impact for sure. A story handled brilliantly and written in your signature style which doesn’t allow one to keep the book aside unless you don’t read it till the last word. So what if it’s not as funny as the earlier two books written by you, but still is special in its own way and I’m sure readers would surely agree.
Keep up the good work dude and wish you all the luck for whatever you decide to do next.

Dear Mr. Chetan,
Its 3:58am. I just finished reading your book. I had lots in my mind to write in here, but the information overload in my head is too much remember and write everything in here.
First, with your 3rd book you have hit lot more than a 6. The way, characters are presented in your books, you are my favourite author. I have read biographies and like some a lot. But writing a fiction, with the details and sensitivity you put in your story, all I can say is you are the BEST!!!.
When I get old, and talk about my young days, I would sure talk about you. I am not a writer, so can’t describe my feelings properly, but I would remember you as a great and gifted someone of my time.

ITS GOOD THE WAY U BRING THE TOPIS OF RIOTS AND THESE SAFFRON GUYS.. WELL WHENEVER SOMEONE GETS KILLED, ITS NOT HINDU OR MUSLIM WHO DIES.. ITS A HUMAN BEING WHO DIES.. ITS HUMANITY WHICH DIES.. GREAT GOING MAN.. BUT PLS MAKE SURE THAT U RELEASES ATLEAST ONE BOOK A YEAR..

Hi Chetan,
Yesterday night only i completed the your latest novel “3 Mistakes of my life” and now i regret for completing it so fast. It was again a fantastic story told in the most superb way it could have been. I cud not have imagined anyone describing the dark incidences of earthquake and riots in such a better way. Since i am from ahmedabad i loved the way you described it and special its pols…
Thanks for keeping up such a great work. Not only you lived up to the expectations for your thrid novel but also brought my expectations to higher level for you next work….. Just keep up your style of narrating the story…
Comment by Urvish Burman — May 12, 2008 @ 1:46 pm
i had no idea you had a new book coming out until yesterday, when i flipped the newspaper and saw the big, bright, yellow cover of the 3 mistakes (nice artwork with canceling the “mistake”)of my life. congratulations on a third book and on being India’s best-selling and most loved author!the article dealt with statistics and negative criticism you have received, and here’s my take on it. just because you wrote five point someone for the young generation doesn’t mean its “juvenile trash”. if using big, wordy sentences and conveying difficult-to-comprehend situations that fuck with your head is considered to be mature and praiseworthy, to hell with them! every student i know has loved that book. it means a lot to those who don’t even like reading! with that book, you proved that you can make even non-readers read. why? because you did some serious “holding the mirror up to nature” in a fun way.perhaps i’ve put it too simply compared to all the critics’ jargon, but i don’t care. and it was really the first time that i came across any negative criticism of your work. the second was of the price. might be a marketing ploy, might be a lot of business strategies that i’m not smart enough(nor do i care) to understand. all i remember is the day i bought five point someone and was glad to see i could even save on the hundred bucks i got. way better than wanting to read something else that’s nice and is ridiculously priced at 450 bucks. your books might have had the most number of copies sold, but your readers are way,way more. its like the da vinci code, since i bought your books, they never come back to me as someone or the other is always reading them!
if you can be a propagandist without going on a hunger strike and all that unnecessary drama,
if you can prove the cliche that the pen is mightier than the sword,
if you can provide joy, laughter, and love to people without making them escapists,
hey, you sure deserve to ROCK THE WORLD!!!
P.S. i know how good writers hate to see bad writing but you see, my powers of articulation are taking a holiday. forgive the dreadful prose, though i do hope you got what i tried to say. and anyway, chances are you haven’t even read it. though it is YOUR website!

the way u write….its like m living that story…m thinkin as to wat govind must be doin now….damn gud…..still 11 chapters left….eager to go home n wrap it up tonite…
i agree with manish dat the dose of humour, as compared to fps…is quite less….

I LOVE your books and very much want to read more of yur books!
Till the day i read your book,I never liked indian authors.(not an offensive tone at all)

Hello Chetan,
I read the third book and found in similar flow to the previous 2. Are you planning to write the next book also into the same predictable flow or would you prefer to change the writing style?
The flow is simple and nice for everyone but we would want you to write something more indepth more about yourself or life of a particular character.

Hey Chetan — Let me begin by wishing you luck on your new release — and if past trends are an indication — this one looks set to rock the reading fraternity as well !! Just picked up the 4 mistakes over the weekend and hope to enjoy reading it over the course of the next few days as and when professional work permits me to !
Unlike the others who love everything about you and your writing — guess the one thing that stands out in my mind is ” simplicity” — of the characters, the situations and the storyline — guess all of us in some small way or the other connect with some part of the story, the characters and their lives –credit of which goes to you Chetan
Do find the time sometime to share the effort that’s got put by you, your team and how you’ve managed to juggle professional demands and the desire to chase your dream of writing !!! I hope to do the same someday !
Keep rocking and God bless ! We’ll talk about your official webpage sometime later (some thoughts to make it connect with your readers better !!)

WAITING FOR YOUR THIRD BOOOOOKKKKKK
Comment by Avinash Natekar — May 14, 2008 @ 5:10 pm
Hi Chetan,
Sorry |Even i know that your book will launch in Pune on 25th of may, I already arranged your third book.
|I spent two days to find it, and just 6 hours to read it.
|See i am not a good reader. I not often read books but whatever i do i do with full of heart and mind.
First i want to tell some good about the book.
1. The Story
2. The various word which you used in books to explain the situations, like meal |For Omi is not profitable.
3.Your Consistency in writing your style . for Eg Use the word “love”.
4.The great start of your book which attracts attention.
5.The great way of writing that proves that you know about something. Like Probability example for your knowledge of maths.Like word Orkut, Like word Benefit of Doubt that shows that you know something about LAW. Aust. players name about your cricket knowledge. The speech of that Gujarati person to tell about your knowledge of Hinduism. etc etc.
6.The way of linking the various major and shocking events like WTC attack, Godhra Kand,Gujrat violence, Cricket victory, Earthquake.amazing work.
7.Your style of writing the story in other persons language.
8. The main thing is your view about india and your heart which is connected with India. This book may opposed by some group of peoples but it will be fine soon as we all are with you.
Now lets talk about little Criticism:
1.I read one another book of Paulo Chelo. The opening line was Once upon a time there was a …..
I hope you read that book. The first para in that book is not forgettable by any one who read that book. Am i right? If yes i just expect similar kind of phrases from you which we cant forget.Of course his style of writing is different than you, but accepting a better things is never a wong idea.Ya one more good thing about you that we cant forget the characters of your books. |Keep it up
So i expect some more improvement in you in your next book.
Till than Best of luck 4 your wonderful work which not even make us happy but also give some way of thinking.
Take care. Bye. And Ya have a nice evening. And due to this mail, this time your coffee will not prohibited you to drink it.

Just finished reading The 3 Mistakes of My life. Won’t pretend that I was impressed, but a nice book to read. Five point someone is one of the best works I’ve read. May be I could relate to it somewhere deep down because of my engineering background.
By the way I loved your second goal, “My second goal is a personal agenda to do whatever I can to make India a developed country as soon as possible.” It is my dream and goal as well. I’ve a bet going on with my girl friend that we will see India as a developed nation in our lifetime. Amen!!
Good Luck Chetan. Will wait for your next book.

I want to tell you something. I am an avid reader and loved all of your books. But my best friend has never read anything more than study material in his life. When i told him the story of ! night at the call centre in short, he was hooked and thats how he read the first novel of his life. I am thankful to you for forming this habit in him. Your book helped him cross the hurdle and now hehas started reading more.
Comment by Shaina — May 15, 2008 @ 10:06 am
I loved your earlier books…Five point someone satiated our curiosity about the life in India’s premier technical institution…One Night @ Call Center was dark and humorous…I read a lot of reviews of the book before borrowing it from my MBA college’s library…most of the reviews were unkind…however I went ahead and read the book in a single go…once I read the first 10 odd pages, I couldn’t let go (same for the first book)…I postponed my assignments and quiz preparations indefinitely, to finish the book…and in the end, around 3 AM, I was satisfied…I loved the book despite what the critics foretold…
This book looks interesting as well…I guess the USP of your books is the simple narrative style…the price point is a huge bonus for the readers as well…
Once I finish your book, I will definitely write back to you…Since I shifted to anthr metro last wk, life has been hectic settling down and I didn’t get a chance to make it to the book launch…I would have loved to meet you in person…However I guess there will be other opportunities, maybe 2 yrs down the line!
Keep writing…

Hi Chetan,
I feel, even you will agree to the fact that you can’t write a book like Five point someone again!!
But even Alchemist or Da Vinci Code can’t be repeated and the list continues…
So, if the first reaction of every reader is - “Uhh!! gud, bt far from the first book”,then i dont see any reason for disappointment.
One thing is for sure, if somebody lifts the book then he cant put it down before finishing it!!
Thats your magic and i bow to it.
Yes, the book is really good, but i expected a lot better!! I can guess that you had very little options for making it spicy as its related to many real events, but that is what whole of india expects out of you.Everybody cant be Chetan Bhagat!!!!
By the way, when will you get out of shadow of this Ryan- Vroom - Ishan
And last but not the least, welcome to india…
Leave your job or whatever..but dont make us wait this much for the next one
Hope to catch you in bangalore.
Thanks for writing a wonderful book

Hi Chetan,
I just came across your website and blog randomly. I have read Five Point Someone..and enjoyed it thoroughly ! Your writing is very reader-centric…rather than attempting to create a work of art that appears oh-so-deep and intense (and which in most cases is so NOT!!)..u create reality in your stories, which is great ! Its the down-to-earth..”ohmigosh! the same thing happened to me !” feeling that makes readers wanna read on ! Will definitely be cathcing up on your latest book..
Keep it up ! All the best for future endeavours..
Take care,
Nadine

Namaste Sir,
I’m feeling very bad(truly)as by accident i got to know about your third book as nowadays i dont watch t.v or read newspapers since I’m busy(pseudo)with my preparation for my masters.
i read both of your books.. bought 2 times and still bookless as my friends borrowed those and couldn’t retain their promise to return.
I liked both of your books. You have treated very psychologically. That made me there feel the character in the book. I also felt the respect for our culture and country which you felt while writing the books.
you are very successful staying in the criteria, set by you, for writing the book. I’m not LAYAK to criticize so I’m not doing that too. I’m just telling what i felt and think.
For my study carrier you are my role model. I always wanted to make my carrier as of your’s(100%). Which now seems to be a sweet dream i saw. Not only in study but also in social scale and the dream you see for our country i want to be like you. you are my role model for my real life…
Now i dream to meet you and talk with you someday..

3 days of reading-at-night and i’ve finally finished “The 3 mistakes of my life”.. d pace was slow bt it was intentional as i wanted to be a part of it while i read it and reading it at 1 go wud’ve been unjust.. to be v honest i didnt find it as funny and witty as five point someone bt i dont think it was intended to be dat either.. in many subtle ways it taught us abt a few realities dat our nation and we as the next generation of it face.. all d characters were just what dey shud’ve been and no1 seemed out of place.. d practical yet pseudo-sensitive govind, the straight-from-the-heart omi and the passionate-for-cricket ish all were v likeable.. must confess that vidya made me fall for her.. bt i’m sure its not just me.. but the thing dat made me most happy was that this book had a message.. a message for us all.. and its upto us now to realise the worth of it.. thx for that Chetan..

Hiii Chetan,
Had to wait for hours @ my local bookstall to get my copy (About 200 copies of the book was sold by then and the shopkeeper remarked he hadn’t seen such a demand for a book other than the Harry Potter series..
)… But finished it off in 5 hours straight..I just couldn’t stop reading it once i started.. Just love the way you intermingle the romance in your books.. The romance with Prof.Cherian’s daughter in FPS and Govind’s romance with Vidya feel so,’GOOD’ ( I am not getting the right word.. )..!!
P.S- I wonder how many Suicide notes you’d start getting after T3MOML..

Just completed reading The 3 mistakes of my life. I’ts amazing,Apart from u style of narration and the plots of ur novels which allways strike a chord with the youth,I really like the never say die spirit portrayed in them.Despite problems, suicide attempts (Alok’s and Govind’s) the characters always emerge stronger and wiser in the end…whether it be Govind,Ish,Ryan,Alok,Shyam or Priyanka.
Congrats for creating such happening novels and lively characters.
Just a little request… I am sure some readers would love to have a novel with a girl narrator!

dear chetan,
i dont wanna emulate any of ur die-hard fans out here.. but i’ve loved ur books.. read first 2 ‘epic novels’ - yes simple, sweet n above all real - guess dats wat makes them loveable.. doesnt matter if those are not literature greats, who wants to confuse our minds by readin those masterpieces by other famous authors..
a) ur best point wud be u bring de reality element wit ur work.. everyone can relate to them..
b) another point wud be it makes me feel i can write too.. maybe again cuz u keep it so simple.. n de whole story actually flashes in front of us, as if its happenin fo real..
ur success is evident in de fact dat ur books are still toppin de charts (guess keepin it low-priced helped it after all).. n our bollywood’s warmin up to them big time.. congrats !!
by de way, if u do read dis comment cud u please clarify wat ‘pol’ means ?!? jus started 3rd book.. sorry fo being ignorant if dats such a common word.. my web searches havent come up wit anythin good so far..
thanx fo writin these books.. hope someday all of us cud tell stories of our own..
n congrats again fo de success.. if u think u owe it to ur fans, please keep writin.. heard u wanna stop writin books n move on to screenplays.. i know its commercially more viable, but please ur rs.95/- books wud be missed my many, if not all..

Hi Chetan,
Read “The three mistakes of my Life” finally.
[SPOILER WARNING: FOR OTHER READERS WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK, MY COMMENTS CONTAINS SPOILERS]
I am not very impressed.
Firstly, the characters. For the last three books, the three leading characters of your books have been the same. Only names have changed - Nothing else. I want something different every time I read a new book.
Secondly, some of the events that unfolded in the story were quite unrealistic. I mean taking the boy to Australia and all was too “not-believable” types. Maybe writing it differently would have helped.
Thirdly, there were many sub-plots which didn’t really add up a value to the whole story. I mean, what did these guyz want to do with Ali and Australian team. How taking the boy to Australia helped the story? What if Fred would have said “OKay, the boy is good. Bye.”
Fourthly, I really wanted to know when in the entire story did Govind get time to read your novels and how did he connect to you as someone whom he can vent is frustration before committing a suicide. This shows you used this e-mail thing to make the story gripping right from the first page. I feel something about how he read your books in between the events of his life in the story would have done the trick here.
And lastly, the voilence at the end was really not called for. I mean, you created three characters, people read the entire book and form an image of all three of them. But in the end they seemed to be someone else. I am sure if there were people like Omi, Ishaan and Govind somewhere they wouldn’t have done what they did in the climax. Probably they would have tried to run or something more smart but surely not try to kill 60 people. And all that “Cylinder Bursting” thing was too heroic. Don’t you think it was not in the character of these three guys.
I would give 4/10 for your book. Still would love reading your future books. I just hope it is not about three friends where one main protagonist is CONFUSED, one of his friend is STUPID and the third one is COOL DUDE.
Love,
Pritesh Pathak

Hello Chetan,
Nice work on bringing out 3moml. I would like to say that although the story is highly addictive, (as usual), am not feeling very entertained by reading this book(have currently finished around 100 pages). Lets see how’s it like, further ahead.
But frankly, a college campus environment excites me much more, than a dull cricket shop environment, and mindless quarrels in politics.
Plus I would like to say that, mobile phones(although introduced earlier), were quite rare in the year 2000-2001, in India.( If I am not mistaken, thats the year around which the story is taking place) So writing so much about smsing at that time, seems a bit ridiculous, especially since most people came to know about sms only after 2003. Anyways that’s a lame issue.
One last thing, did Govind get a 100 in both class 10 and 12? Am confused. He himself says he got 100 in maths in 10, whereas Ish says he got it in 12.
Best of luck for all your future ventures, and keep up the good work.
P.S.- I simply love your writing style, hehe..

My views on “The Three Mistakes of My Life”…………….
Awakening a generation to reading takes more than some sheer magic and Chetan has proved that in sense more than one, he’s an Indian Rowling.
With his third novel, he has matured lot more and has ably intertwined serious real issues like Riots, Earthquakes, Cricket, Religions and Politics in a single package.
Characters in his tale are larger than life and often you feel them coming to life and making you feel emotions in a way, you never thought was possible.
His witty humor retains the charm exhibited in his previous worlds of IIT & Call Centers. Like his earlier works, his words on paper will soon translate to a colorful life on 35 mm this time as well.
A reader is left dumbstruck as Chetan captures the real soul of India in Cricket and spins a suspense marvel, which you can’t put down till Ali hits a six in London.
A blissful forbidden romance in midst of all gruesome tensions lends a special charm and Vidya’s persona scores a perfect century without even a single swing of a bat.
The delicacy of religious sentiments, the ferociousness of riots, the shrewdness of politics, the felicity of love, the bond of friendship and the craze of cricket everything finds an apt place in his imaginations.
Chetan is the undisputed King of author’s fraternity and no doubt his books have smashed sales records of 7 figures with ease.
Critics may continue questioning Chetan’s contribution to the literary universe, but the truth remains that words from his pen pluck the strings of Indian hearts in every dimension, like nothing else.

Another revolution u’ve brought is the kind of names you give to your characters like Hari, vidya, govind … people have started loving such out-of-fashioned names once again.
Well, from the book’s front page i came to knw that you are back to india. Thats a gr8 gr8 news for all ur fans including ME. But the sad part is that i couldn’t meet u though i wand it the most after finishing the book 3. Today only i came to knw that u were in Ahmedabad on 24th. Man… i missed it.
But you are doing a gr8 job. Keep up the good work. You are a hot topic of discussion in young india.
Thanks & Njoy !!!

Hi Chetan Sir!!
I have just finished your third book “The 3 mistakes of my life”. I liked it. But I liked One Night@Call Center more than that.
Hats off to your style of writing (narrating the story in 1st person).
You Explain the situations so well, that one feels like he himself/herself has lived the role of the character in scene. Not all authors are able to do that.
And of course, The english is so simple.
I am now going to start read “Five Point someone” in next couple of days.
I tell you how your books affect me:
1) I feel gud and different living in the virtual world u create for us which make me forget the chaos around me for sometime and i feel better.
2) Improves my communication skill.. e.g. the line (”Can we make an exception….” Ish’s reply to Mr Greener, which is a great tactic to get the things done.)
3) I feel in some manner, these will help me in becoming much better human being (not sure but may contribute)
4) I never liked reading books but I started this hobby with “One night at call center”. And then read 3 mistakes. I think this journey will go on now.. Thanks for the superb and so articulate gift to us.

Hi Bhaghat,
I read all the three books, your work was impressive. If we look at 3 individual books each one is simple but outstanding. All books made me laugh, think and enjoy ……….thanks for that
But one feedback i have it for you is that the plots are becoming same even though the backdrop is changing, this is not good for a good writer like you(Friendship+[backdrop]+sex+Sad Happenings).
We hope next one will be a different, simple and an innovative one of course with Chetan Bhaghat mark.
Best Regards,
Chaitanya.

hi Chetan….
i’ve read all ur three books. No doubtt i’ve loved them.
u create a magic in your books.your best book was
five point someone.I really liked because Hari’s n my life had
some similarity….
the best part your books are…
-the stories are really very down to earth.u never get bored. The plots u choose
is always unique.
-the research work abt everything..in iit ofcours u didnt need help
but in the other two books each and everything u have written was
were such “eye-openers”.
-the best part is ur love stories….they create a lot of chemistry
and the way u’ve potrayed a girls mind in ur every book really is
like a cream on a cake….
please naver stop writting.keep the good work going.
my best wishes are always with u…..
your admirer,
Shreyas

your two books FPS and ONACC are amzaing. I had never had come across such stuff before. You Rock!!!!
And the best thing about your books is your language.Hats off to your courage in liberal use of invective words which youngsters like me used to use liberally in our college days and hence, it somewhere connects ! Please keep up the great stuff and all the best for your movie HELLO. May it become a blockbuster as we are fed up of CHOCOLATE HERO MOVIES!!! Thanks and bye. Have a great time

Hi Chetan,
Even i did by virtue of reading this novel… Amazingly written story… The bollywodism is there but even that is wonderfully displayed… Please keep on writing such stories…
Have read all your books. Shall be honest that i didn’t really like one night but the other two were awesome… I finished 3 mistakes in one go… Didn’t really feel like leaving it in between…. I am myself a s/w professional and find it hard to cope up at home as well as job.. Its great to see a professional actually take out time for writing… And the work is amzaing… For once i felt that you actually met Govind
A big fan of yours…

Hi Chetan!
M bowled over by your novels. Your writing style, narration, characters, themes… like everything is just amazing…. yet so breezy and casual… I have read all three of your novels & I am just completely in love with them… its really great to see or feel when someone like this connects with readers so easily….it won’t be an easy task but i guess it comes just naturally to you….Man, keep up your writing as it is…the losers in your novel are just so adorable…..I have taken your writings quite seriously & am picking your works for my PHD Research….& am sure it would be a roller coaster ride… waiting to read more from you….
cheers,
Nikita
