dear chetan,
I have read your both books..whatever they were(in terms of litrature), one thing was common the were fabulous “commercial products”.FPS was kinda originally and I will recommend in anyone’s reading list… but ON@CC was totally a filmy one.Your third novel also seems to be willing to catch commercial pulse of Indian demography(after IITs then call center and now) cricket..what do you say..is it all about money or..creativity too???

Hi Chetan,
Mujhe english jayda nahi aati, par itna jarur kahunga ki aap kitabo mein jeevan hai, jeevan kuch aise logo ka jo IIT mein pereshan hone ke bavjood bhi kush hai, maine jayda study nahi ki par aap ki 5.someone padhte time meine jee hai IIT ki life un char dostoo ke saath meine apne aap ko mehsoos kiya, hamesha……. aur one night in a call centre…… call centre mein kaam karne mein kitna mazzaa aata hai aur jab dekhte hai un sab logo ka ek dusre ke liye pyar ……. its amazing…. ek acha writer meri nazar mein wo hota hai jo apni kitaboo ke through apne readers ko story ki life jeene ke liye force kare, aur ek acha reader wo jo sab kuch bhula kar uss kitab ki life jeeye…..
aaj mujhe koi dhukh nahi ki maine jayda study nahi ki kuki IIT ki life aur ek call centre ki life to maine jee hai …. aap ki kitaboo ke through…..
kabhi bataunga apni life ke bare mein common hai par ……. sorry jayda personal hone liye par your are a great writer……. God bless you……..

Hi Chetan,
This is my first time ever at blogging. I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed reading ON@CC. I couldn’t put it down before finishing it. I have become an ardent fan of yours. I checked out all your interviews, reviews of your books, and your website.
Don’t worry about what the critics say (I know your don’t). There are enough admirers of your simple style of story telling (quite obvious from the sales figures) where one does not have to reach out for a dictionary every time. The characters are very real, plot very engaging, and dialogues true to life and very humourous. Made great reading! I read ON@CC first and so was not affected by the comparisons readers have made between book 1 and 2, with 2 not being as good as 1. I loved it! Can’t wait to read FPS and the next one in coming out in May.
You come across as a great guy with big dreams for India, but if you want to make a difference don’t get caught up in the glamour of Bollywood and the big bucks.
I have one question for you. Why could you not have played the role of yourself in the movie Hello. You are not bad looking and it would have lent the Hitchcock feel to the film. If the script is really good, you don’t really need big stars as has been proved time and again. I also suspect there is an actor hidden somewhere in you. I don’t know if you reply to fan mail, but I would be greatly kicked if you did.
Keep writing, so that readers like us can keep on reading…

Hi Chetan
I recently read your second book called One night at the call centre….must say the title and review caught my attention so i bought it from a local book store. Unlike some other reviews here, I think the book was pretty disappointing. Reminded me of my Enid Blyton days to be honest. The story is quite amateurly written and ‘fraid your expression seems pretty school boy. Would have liked to see more depth in the expression…
Good luck with your new one though…
Cheers

All the best for the movie ‘Hello’ too..Would have loved it if you would play your part yourself..cause you look good

You are an amazing writer.
Wish you all the luck!!!!!1

Hi Chetan - I’m also eagerly awaiting your next book albeit for a different reason. I have read your past two books and I must appreciate your business sense in identifying your target audience for both the stories. The books had to sell due to the volumes and demographics of the target audience. I do not want to discount your appeal to your audience due to your simple writing style and story telling.
Coming back to my reason of awaiting your next book. Actually I had starting writing a novel based on my personal experiences. However, when I got to know about the theme of your novel, it seemed there are definite overlaps, so I’m waiting for your story and hoping that I still have a story to narrate that will be different from yours.
All the best!

Dear Chetan,
I read an article on you in Hindustan Times on Sunday. Like others I am also waiting for your new book. But generally I am not very sure about the movies being made on your books. You are a great story teller and I am not very hopeful that other people (read script writer) would be able to do justice on your stories.
Lets hope that you write your own script and direct your own movies as well. All the best to you and your family.

there is no point in saying that “i am a big fan of yours & blah, blah”. it’s pretty obvious.
I have been gobbling down every nibble of information about your third book since time unknown & it’s finally there now.
I have a grudge though. Why are you not coming to indore for the launch?
Read the excerpt & it was great like all your other books.
Sorry though i twisted your system a little bit so as to get the printout of the extract as well as the bonus excerpt (no pirate but cant read from monitor as my eyes hurt)
I wished you could be in indore……..then i would get all my copies signed by you…..

hey chetan sir..
i have gone thrugh both of ya books FPS n ON@CC..how fantabullous u write yaar…
when i started reading ya 1st book,,i didnt kno who is “mr chetan bhagat”,,when i reached uptill few pages ,,a whiff of interest got around me,,,and then gradually i gotta kno “kya cheez hai mr.bhagat”
and after that im a huge fan of ur writing,,ON@CC..awesome…. the 1 thing i like most about ur writing is”the way u describe the scene, the ambience of that particular moment.it feels im standing over there n watching that stuff,,,
CHETAN ROCKSS…..

I’m a big fan of yours…… actually i was not into novel reading or something but your “Five point……..” has made me into it.Now i’ve become a die hard fan of your writing. You r the best. The way you present your story is so close to the youngsters that we can easily relate to them.I like your “ON@cc” more than the “five pointer….” and i hope ” 3 mistakes….” brings us the same flavour which we all keep waiting from the great “Chetan Bhagat”.keep up the good work…..

Wanna tell u sumthing, plzz dnt listen up to wat others have to say regarding yr change in wrtting style n switching over to female protagonist from male.Coz incase u feel like telling sumthing to world thru female views u still can potray it thru yr female characters as u did very successfully thru “priyanka” in “one night at call centre”.Thats yr style man….dnt jst give a damn to wat all dat suggestions. Moreover its yr views matters n nt whether thru a male or a female protagonist matters………………wish u gud luck in every more of yr further ventures….kp writting yr heart out….we love u!!

Hi Chetan,
Ur new book is great, its hilarious and thought provoking. I lived in Ahmedabad for seven years and it was nice to see the names such as ellis bridge, law garden etc mentioned in a book which being read by all of india, the amdvadi in me was feelin very proud.
The end was some wat not to my liking i think it could have been better, the fight with mama was something like a die hard movie, bloody and brutal.
but all in all a great book. Thanks mate for makin India Proud……………..

Hi Chetan,
I liked the book but the end was sumthing not as best as was in FPS. I think the conditonal villains are the best one which makes our soul strong without filling out heart with hate for anyone. Ultimately we have to fight with the conditions which are wither direcrtly created by sumone or by us.
God bless!

My views on “The Three Mistakes of My Life”…………….
Awakening a generation to reading takes more than some sheer magic and Chetan has proved that in sense more than one, he’s an Indian Rowling.
With his third novel, he has matured lot more and has ably intertwined serious real issues like Riots, Earthquakes, Cricket, Religions and Politics in a single package.
Characters in his tale are larger than life and often you feel them coming to life and making you feel emotions in a way, you never thought was possible.
His witty humor retains the charm exhibited in his previous worlds of IIT & Call Centers. Like his earlier works, his words on paper will soon translate to a colorful life on 35 mm this time as well.
A reader is left dumbstruck as Chetan captures the real soul of India in Cricket and spins a suspense marvel, which you can’t put down till Ali hits a six in London.
A blissful forbidden romance in midst of all gruesome tensions lends a special charm and Vidya’s persona scores a perfect century without even a single swing of a bat.
The delicacy of religious sentiments, the ferociousness of riots, the shrewdness of politics, the felicity of love, the bond of friendship and the craze of cricket everything finds an apt place in his imaginations.
Chetan is the undisputed King of author’s fraternity and no doubt his books have smashed sales records of 7 figures with ease.
Critics may continue questioning Chetan’s contribution to the literary universe, but the truth remains that words from his pen pluck the strings of Indian hearts in every dimension, like nothing else.

Dear Chetan,
Hello,
Usually i read gujarati Novels as it’s my mothertongue. In my college days i live in hostel for four years.during those days i came to know about your book-FPS.and I was the first one to borrow it from my seniors.I was given it for only 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes i completed 3 chapters and i bunked the all 4 lecttures after the break and completed the book.It was awsome. Simply Superb.
I just couldnt leave away my place.;-) Frankly speaking i havent read my study books ever with such an interest.
Then after in evening i was punished by my seniors to write down their assignments for keeping the book for 4 hours.:-) Life is same everywhere. But now i have become addict of your writing.Even i use to tell everyone about your books and make them read it.
You have really good sense of writing with light still straight and strong words.Good job done.
Will always wait for your new books.Keep writing.Have A Nice life.

I have read your previous 2 books and let me be very frank with you-five point some was brilliant, simply brilliant.the way you connected with the readers was simply awesome.one night at a call center was dissapointing, not that the story line was bad but I got lost somewhere in the ending.
I am going to buy the 3rd book this weekend,I am really looking forward to that.I have read the introduction and I have become very curious about it.
Looking forward to more of your books.

Hi Chetan,
CONGRAGULATIONS!!
I should have written this post approximately 6 hours earlier when finished reading your new book by 4am in the morning, yesterday.
Generally, I like reading 2-4 pages at a time. However, yesterday I could just put down the book.
Congragulations!! You seem to have felt the pulse of Indian book readers. Apt price of the book, wonderful yet simple language and great story contents.
I think I had felt the same feeling after I read Five Point Someone, some years ago(I was a fresh engineering graduate at that time and the book made me more nostalgic).
Though honestly, I liked 5 point and 3 mistakes better than 1 night.
Pls keep up the good work and be rest assured that as a small fan of yours, I would encourage/ convince/ insist my colleagues & friends buy a copy of your new book, though I already have many pending requests from friends who has already asked me to share the book (when they knew I had placed an online-order for the book). This only proves that you have a huge fan following.
Love your writing.

just finished the book today..was a sure page turner..
i have one grievance though..u always potray atleast one woman character in the book as kiddish and vulnerable…that seems a tad unfair as women(most of them) dont send childish sms’s to their boyfriends and dont always dress in blue and live in a flashy pink room..
u are without a doubt one of the best indin writer of this generation…

Hi Chetan,
I am not so die hard fan of yours but want to know when is the movie based on your first novel is going to be released.can anyone give some details on this..
msut say your writing style is very good.every man on this world has got a lot of stories with him but it is the wrting style and passion of writing that makes a writer out of a not so common man..
i am also passionate about writing.started blogging only to improve my writing skills.
must say you have got a very good understanding of woman beauty..i have read all your three novels and one of the few things common in three books is your description of woman beauty ..or may be that is the only (one of)thing that i could appreciate….
i am reading your 3 rd book (have said earlier that i have read all..pls ignore that)..its full of day to day happenings…one of the reasons why people can not (of course very few only)appreciate your novel is because they have got a habit of reading american / firangi novels..it’s very difficult to digest a new thing which is just as common as indians in india..but unfamiliar thing is unfamiliar..it will take some time and good number of authors like you who can make indians read novels based on one of our’s story….
I have read a few hindi novels also but the feeling in that is completely different….I guess the days of hindi novels may not come at all but i can see a good future of the novels written by indians and read all over the world….
will try to be regular her..
thanks,
Kaushal

hi chetan,
my english is not to good(as you have written in your book-ON@CC,shyam speaks on second page),
first of all i am your die hard fan.
i have read your both books and i like your first books very very very much,i haven’t ever read this type of rocking book on college students.
i have read your book when it was my first month in college, and if i trully speak i want to be HARI.i felt that it was my story.i think you can understand the mind of young guys very well!
i have read FPS at least 20 times and ON@CC 5 times.
i like your way to see life and to appreciate women’s beauty.it was all great to dating with HOD’s daughter ,great!!!!
you have changed my view towards COLLEGE LIFE and also towards MY OWN LIFE.
ihave not till read your 3rd book but i am sure that it will be fantastic and heart-touching!!!!
BEST OF LUCK FOR NEXT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Chetan
The book seems to be first mistake of your life, kindly forgive me by starting of with such a remark but as an ardent fan of yours I have atleast this much right to voice my opinion. As the story of your new book(Three mistakes of my life)unfolds it was quite interesting and gripping I was sure that I”ll have all the praises for you alas i was wrong, the cricket scenes are highly streched and elaborated which makes this book boring as I beleive cricket is marvellous to watch and listen rather than read.I literally had to flip those pages without reading which were full of cricket instances.the first mistake comes much in time than the two left mistakes for which I felt cheated as it came almost in the end that too one after another spoiling the whole story. The end was abrupt too.I know your previous books cant be compared with this one as suggested by the protagonist this story being diff.
still I miss the similarity which was there and was the essence of your previous books like the character Shyam which was like the guy next door, the punches of humour every now and then.I would rather not use the word dissappointed as a lot of hard work has been put in and would like to praise for handling a sensitive issue pertaining to Gujrat;but this book definately lacked my taste and interest.Hope to have your new release soon, with the same price tag, don’t keep us waiting for that long.
Regards

Chetan,
I have read only three books so far and all three written by you. I found all three of them interesting. However, I found the story lines fall into one category. 3 boys are best friends, one girl and so on and so forth….
I feel it may be difficult for us (audience) if your next book (fourth) is also written on same lines.. You have been a banker for almost a decade now and you have seen life.. Try to bring something new into your next book (whenever you write it)..The book may be based on anything but it must be totally different from what you have written so far.
I am not criticizing you but raising my expectations based on 3 wonderful books I have read of yours.

Hi Chetan,
I came to know about you by one of my friend who is working in UK.
To be frank I hated novels since I feel more of the overhead bumpers than intended communication
by authors.
I read “3 mistakes in my life” 1 week back and to be honest
it was my first novel read fully in my life.
Thought it took time but it was very easy to understand and digest.
I loved it actually and I gave s shot to your second novel “One Night in Call Center”.
F**k it was amazing to read it. I finished it in less than 24 hrs.
And now I am reading your first and my third novel in my life: “Five point Someone”.
Man you made me read novels like never before; infact first time in my life I feel that I have gained some insight.
Who doesn’t like hearing stories and You have gained top 10 rank in “Art of Story Telling”.
Its wonderful to read your novels and awaiting for your fourth novel.
Keep writing Chetan,
Regards,
