it was really a fascinating book and i read your book for the first time and just one word to say:-a mixture like a undhiu which has all the aspects and the taste of our complicated mind:)thats why our mind satisfies with the story ;continuee your work and make it more intresting so that we could more inspire..bye:)
Such a wonderful movie…the performance by all the 3 idiots is awesome…loved them all..cud identify with each of the characters in one way or the other…similar situation and boy boy in the end Chatur get a call from Wangadoo…so funny man….
I watched a movie after a year in a theatre and when chatur was saying the ‘Chamatkar’ oops ‘Balatkar’ speech i laughed in the theatre so much…i was under the chair on the floor…my stomach and back was aching…hehhehehe….
Id been with my Dad and Brother and trust me the 100 rs ticket per head and exorbiatnt pepsi and pop corns….i am just not guilty of spending it…..
since ur stories inspire such movies trust me….its worth it. we will surely have fewer suicides nw

Now recently searched in youtube for ‘chetan in 3 idiot ppremiere’. Youtube give me search result of zero! Strange! No where in the film i heard anything about u(chetan). Dont you feel that you got less attention than. Feeling cheated Mr.Bhagat?
all 4 of yo books are rockin…i neva read…even if i start to read ve neva finished a book….but yo books…i ve finished em in a very very short time…loved all…especially five point someone and 2states…both are awesome…

The reason 3 idiots is such a huge hit today , is because chetan bhagat has written a brilliant story , period! the movie may claim to be inspired by the book but the folks who have read the book know ..its entirely based on it … the magic of the story , charaters is completely captured !!! i loved the book and i loved the movie .. because i loved the story !! ofcourse aamir is hot property and all .. but the magic is in the story …!!
Guess what! I must admit I was out of touch with some important events and news unfolding in India i.e I wasn’t aware that 3 idiots was inspired by 5.someone.. until I saw it! I could certianly see glimpses of your wonderful and exciting book in the movie and that’s how I discovered it! This is the first time I am writing on your blog so must say I am a big fan! well am yet to read the other books ..about time I resumed my bedtime reading! We look forward to your blogs and books! And Congratulations once again on inspiring so many across the planet!!
Caught up with the 3 Idiots yesterday morning. Found them thoroughly entertaining and paisa vasool. Everything from scratching the hairy chest with the rolling pin to Chatur’s balatkar fiasco to the spectacular landscapes of Ladakh was a treat for the senses. I was expecting the movie to be drastically diff from FPS but was pleasantly surprised to see many similarities…this is one movie, whose dvd i am desperately awaiting.
hv nt seen it yet….why r u so popular????[:o] cldnt manage to get the tickets!!!!![:(]..its going houseful….[:)]….n dat too gonna go for a wk wid all those who bukd in advance!!!!![:(]

Hi chetan, FIVE POINT SOMEONE was 1st book which i had bought myself. i love that book. The story line and the characters are amazing. So, because of that i was very keen to watch the movie 3 idiot, having so much of expectation from that movie. but what i feel that the movie 3 idiot just raped the book FIVE POINT SOMEONE, THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS ALSO. I couldnt take the way movie ends and also mixing the characters and ALOK and RAYAN is horrible in the movie.I am not saying that the movie was bad. but the thing is that i really love the book, so i couldnot take those things.It just a request to you that please do not allow to make such kind of movie which totally RAPED the story, character and the ending also and the same as the previous movie hello copied form one night at call centre.

hi, I need my money back, movie is quite OK but not like the book FPS. the basic idea of what not to do at IIT was nowhere in film hence all the fun was missing. Vidhu chopra and raju hirani has repeated their gandhigiri although with diff shades.
Movie is just passable but Aamir khan,his marketing gimmics alongwith the whole cine industry has made it astounding success.
As you might have observed by now, 3 Idiots is doing extremely well. I feel that it was above Five Point Someone in many aspects. I can tell it by reading your books that you are not an admirer of the education system in India. Everybody wants to be an engineer here.
Engineer, well fine. Infact good! But why? Because it pays them at the end. This truth was more precisely unleashed (or rather criticized) in the film than it was in the book. 3 Idiots criticized taking up engineering for nothing, while FPS did not deal in this critical way. It was merely about what not to do at an IIT.
On the other side of the coin, 3 Idiots was not dealt personally but your book touched the heart. I agree with many critics that your books have no literary merit, but unlike them, I understand you don’t want to be a literary medalist either. I have loved Five Point Someone because I kept my brain (which I use while reading Rusdhie’s books) aside and took it as an entertainment.
First, I did the same thing with 3 Idiots because it was an adaptation of FPS. But I was left with no clue about how it was. Next time, I packed my brain into my skull and shot at the cinema hall. Realized; Unlikely, 3 Idiots is a triumph of a film-maker. It is technically sound, well crafted, concrete and enjoyable, but you gotta deal with brain. It is truth, not a bollywood masala film.

Lots of things were changed but the soul of the book was retained.That movie went on to win the OSCARS…
Same is with the 3 IDIOTS.. . Changes are good…what matter is soul. Refreshing movie. As i am doing mechanical engineering and my college principle have 96% resemblance to the ViruS , I, no we were related to the movie easily…..
It will appeal to all the masses…..
With lots reality and filminess at the same time…

Comparisons are inevitable … My take is that 5 point someone is way too good to be canned into a 3hr movie .. possible, yes .. but not so in 3 idiots.
