Closing Remarks

January 5, 2010 in general Posts

Dear All,

Once again, thank you so much for your support. Yesterday, I was on CNN-IBN’s Face the Nation, on a general panel discussion on the Education System. However, I used the opportunity to give a few closing remarks from my side on the issue. While we maintain our stance on the issue, me and my fans want to move on, and we have.

The remarks are in the link here. The video is in five parts. My comments are in the 3rd part, so click the link under the screen that says 3. I speak after around a minute.

Thank you very much. I am looking forward to using this blog for other positive topics.

Regards,

Chetan

PS:  This is only for the extra-curious types. While totally not obligated to answer any more allegations, just to clarify on the RH video – no I wasn’t given the script. A top level oral narration is something else and anybody in the film industry will tell you is very different from actually giving the written script. Notice they keep saying he has ‘heard’ the script, not ‘read’ it. In the oral narration, they told me the changes only. Please also note NDA he flashes which has a date of Oct 3, 2007, the so-called narration date. The adaptation deal was done in September 2005. Raju said it took Abhijat ‘3 yrs and 2 months’ to do the script in other interviews. Hence, even if Abhijat started on the deal date, the script was finished in November 2008. So, how could RH narrate it to me in Oct 2007?  Go figure. Also, please listen to my  full Bollywood Hungama interview they are quoting from, I maintain that my story is the base. Anyway, what matters is the final film vs book.   Also, they did not buy rights of the book – they bought the rights to adapt the book – a basic error they continue to make – whether out of lack of knowledge or to evade the issue. And yes there is a contract to adapt the work – but it doesn’t mean they can claim authorship of the story. You can buy a painting, not claim you painted it – basic copyright law. My points are valid, and I am not a liar. Anyway, like I said, we’ve moved on.

    Hi Chetan
I do not understand why do you have to apologise to aamir or his fans..this was needless. You took a high moral ground and exposed the lack of ethics of those people….done with that. No need for apologies etc.,

    \Ganesh

  2. Yogesh Chauhan says:

This is what we can expect from you but not from them. let them go to hell. We are with you.

3i stands nowhere before FPS. It would not be there if there was no FPS.

  3. Abhishek says:

Fair Enough chetan..you did right.you are far better than 3i team if we talk abt ethics, manners and professionalism ..

    Cheers

    Hi Chetan,

Wish you all the very best. Grace is what you have stuck to. A few people have raised ridiculous questions in the “comments section” and I believe they are the ones who do not understand the word “ethics”. We all are waiting for your next release!!! Happy New Year

  5. Vinay says:

  7. Shuvankar Mukherjee says:

Good to move on, Life is far too big to be stuck by few idiots. Since you are an aamir fan (like myself),my view of the film is; This is perhaps the worst of aamir as college student considering he was in Dil Chahta Hain, Rang De Bansanti and even Rakh.

  8. Anubhav Nangia says:

I think your doing absolutely the right thing.

  15. Nitish Kumar says:

Shailesh! I feel pity on you. I bet you are coming out to comment without reading the book itself. Give the book a look first

    http://nitishkumar.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/chetan-bhagat-vs-amir-vvc-and-hirani-fps-vs-3-idiots/

Buying the rights to adopt the story is another thing and saying it as own is another. Neither the contract allows them.. this is what Chetan said in plain english… if you were knowing English..

Anyway… the place cant be from people… still claiming

  16. Prakriti says:

  18. Shiraz Siddiqi says:

    Hi Chetan
You should not keep quiet now. We all are with you. Carry on fight for your dignity as well as your fans dignity and pride. These Chopras ,Raju Hirani ,Aamir Khan etc are hypocrates. They preach something else and practice something totally differnt. In their movies MUNNA Bhai ,they give the lessons of justice,Gandhigiri etc and when the time comes to do justice and credit they back off.
They are hungry for awards, rewards etc at someone else’s cost. I will never see their movies in future.
I am also surprised at Aamir Khan. Who is he to comment? He is not a producer ,writer of this movie. And above all He has not read your book 5.someone. Then who has given him the right to comment.and that also saying that you r doing for publicity, etc.

agar aamir main dignity hoti toh woh chup rehta. He has lost his respect.
Chetan , ab aamir ki asliyat saamne aa rahi hai. He is also like others. no different. He wants to be with the Chopra camp for his future prospects as Chopras are a big name. Without reading your book , he has done character assassin for his benefit in future.

Did not expect this from Aamir. I suggest Aamir should start attending the film fare award functions which he claims unfair awards as he is too is unfair to the original Writer and to his fans.I am no longer a fan of Aamir Khan now.
    Ok Chetan bye.
    We all are with you.
    All the best
    We pray
    Shiraz Siddiqi

All our bollywood peole are either plain graduates or 12th pass. they believe everybody in India have limeted knowledge like them and they can manipulate their fans by commenting anything. Raju is looking like a fool on bollywood hungama. I am appaled that how bollywood hungama conviniently edited the video and showed the content, which they liked to show. SHame on bollywood. It has no ethics and more importantly like our politics there is no law in bollywood and they are acting as yester year landlord. who make the poor farmers work since they have signed the cotract but that dosent mean what landlords do are right
