Dear All,
Came back from HK after a two month getaway to calm down. Now a little busy with the 3 Idiots related activities. I am happy to announce that we are doing a launch/celebration party of 2 States in Chennai – finally! The book is mostly set in Chennai, and this will be a rocking event when I finally face so many Tamilians at once!
What’s more, Shruti Hassan, has kindly agreed to come and read with me and enact a scene from the book. It is on Monday, 21st Dec at Loyola College Auditorium, 6:30pm and I understand that’s quite centrally located. Wife, kids and in-laws(!) are also coming.
So, excuses ille, and everyone there and reading this has to come.

I have just read your 2 States and what can I say, another great piece of work. Though I do feel sorry for you if it is your own life story but congratulate you on making a good present out of it and also on making a good novel…
I have also watched 3 idiots last night and Aamir should thank you for winning my support for him again after this movie. Hats up to Chetan and Aamir Company and I know you guys don’t need too many wishes since its a one of the best movies bollywood has ever produced but still Good luck n God bless.

hello sir…i don’t know if this is the right page where i should comment but i just finished reading my Christmas book 2 states and i cried out with emotions..you are certainly a heart winning writer..and im completely loved your book..i don’t know if you visit and read comments but i think the above comment about the movie and the cast i like it..my mom i like watching movies so i would love to see 2 states as a movie..anyways coming back i just loved it and im egarly waiting for your next relese as you continue to win the most incredible writer…

hi chetan….I am in my 12th grade and I have read all the four books of urs. But, of all the four, unfortunately, 2 states was the worst. I am saying only my opinion. I expected a lot from this book of urs. I believe ur next book thoroughly satisfies me.

i could really relate myself to krish(my name krishna) in 2 states wid his dad.though rivalry is not tht intense, but yes it is ther in my case wid ma dad… he too was ex serivecemen (aie force).
do u think ppl of age grp 16 17 wood have enjoyed (2 states) as much as 5 point sme1 & two states.
i am big fan of urs & i was realy dissappointed after watchin 3 idiots,, i was xpectin ur name in the very startin … but couldnt anywer.. it was not copied it was spoof of ur parody of ur novel.

The best part of the novel i felt was the way you have depicted the real life situations, the emotions involved, the ups and downs of a family life and still there are so many people who fight, fight hard to realize their dreams.
i have a son, want a daughter now also i want to live the 2 states life for both of them.

2 states was funny,and very much like FPS.Congratulations!.
I find that, all components of the story – culture,logistic details,etc, are of current in nature and in some cases,even futuristic, instead of reflecting 1997. Details like scarcity and costliness of mobile phone talk are artificially forced in to make it look like 1997.
couldnt believe the chef at the marraige mouthed those prafanities. its impossible to expect from a brahmin cook, i wud have thought.But then,this is just one impossible,characterisation of tamil brahmins in the book.

I have typed 7 times and deleted… finally I thought about telling you the resemblance or two state of my life with my own life.. may be I m going through the same state as ur character Krish gone through, when he met the doctor.. but all stories doesn’t have good endings.. isn’t it..??

I am an avid reader of all your books. I just finished reading two states. Some observations or you can call it comments:
1) I quote ‘purest of pure upper caste’, sorry to say, this is just bullshit. Let me ask you or Ananya, are we not all human beings with the same blood or do brahmins have some special pure blood? (FYI:i am brahmin too). The two evils in our Indian society are the caste system and dark/fair obsession. I wonder who is that fool who invented the hierarchy of the caste system(obviously a brahmin). I m not against belonging to a community but when people think they superior because they are brahmins, that really gets me.
2) You have said everything in humor, ok you have critisized both north and south , but i feel that the dosage was stronger for south indians.
3) you said you know why fair/lovely was invented i think though in humor, it was insensitive( im fair ), i have seen many north indians who are dark. North is not the land of fair and lovely. Dark people have feelings, they did not ask to have a dark skin ( it is God given).
Overall, your book was good, i liked the part about south indian heros. However i wish you had taken time to see some movies with heros like surya,ajith,kamal hassan and the fact is bollywood movies are more on looks, there are some tamil movies that have GREAT stories.
Please take this in good humor as well.

Remembered my horrible days in Chennai.. Your book is outstanding. Honestly I have never read any other author’s book in my life. The very fisrt book which I read in my life was FPS, 2nd was One Night@the call centre, 3rd was 3 mistakes of my life and the 4th one was 2 states and the 5th will also be only and only your book.

I hav read 3 of your books and i liked them all.I used to nvr hav d habbit of reading books.Bt your books brought me that passion in me.I think 2states was jst awesome….i still remember the ending part “the mickey mouse on the underwear” were i could not control my laughter.I lik the humor you giv to all your books.I hav jst read 3 of your books an i am a die hard fan of yours.
Regarding Five point someone controversy i am truly with you.You r the true man who was behind those characters & story line an it was your creativity an so you must get the real credit.Otherwise those characters would nvr hav born…its easy for somone to jst add som masala stuff 2 others creativity an build on that.sometimes it works 4 them an somtimes it does nt….since all the build up they hav done 2 your story workd they r taking credit…..I hope it gets proved at d earliest tat you were telling truth an everthing end in a good note…

And about your second book…To be very frank…Its more of a movie stuff..I dont know whether you watched many tamil movies after marriage and got inspired by them..The part of the story where krish comes to chennai and convinces ananya’s parents is exactly what happens in any ordianry tamil movie..It was too dramatic..Anyways…It was witty and very interesting…

I have read your book 2 states. and that is wonderful. keep writting. i am from that place where any new book will reach after 1 month from release. For reading your book first in my town i went to delhi (180Km away from my town) and purchased your book on very first day.
This is really a very good book. I enjoyed it. U will be surprised to listen this that anybody who saw me with this book told me to give them after complition for read.

Hi, Liked all your books. 2 states is a master piece. You should also right some books about the S/W industry folks onsite trips. (Carrying all Indian spice condiments/fisrt trip adventures/cooking adventures at onsite). I have never read an English book by Indian Author so avidly. Always stuck to regional Novels or books by foreign authors. Waiting for your next novel.
