Hi all,
Got a lovely mail from an uncle, who helped reach a decision with 2 States. See the actual mail below ( some actual details hidden). Made my day. Who said books don’t make a difference?
Love,
Chetan

Dear Chetan,
My family and myself have always been your fan from the time I laid my hands on your first novel.I have not only read them but also gifted them to my customers(I am a restaurateur) and relatives. This last book of yours namely 2 states appears as though its my family story.
I am a punjabi sharma and my daughter has fallen in love with a keralite boy(have to mention boy because now our constitution allows lesbain marriages too). I will be insulting Punjabi blood if I deny the protest drama that took place. The protest was followed by an angioplasty on me. This too did not deter the love birds. All this happened in October 2008.
Now the marriage is slated for 21st December 2009. The boy is a Lieutanant with Indian navy. Your book has acted as balm to my deliberately delayed decision.I now have no regrets.
I have planned to gift your book to my invitees on the wedding night.I hope your publisher would consider to erect a small kiosk and you would honour me by gracing the occassion.
Please consider this as a personal invitation.
Date 21st December 2009. Time Marriage ceremony 10.30 a.m (Keralite style}
Reception Punjabi Style 8.00pm onwards.

Wonderful! I thought the book was a hilarious, and a fast, time-pass read. Really glad to see that it has made a positive impact in the minds of people that really matter in our society. Congratulations!

Hi,
Chetan, it’s nice to see this is a great support for a father who was struggling to convince others. Amazing. so proud of you as always!
Hi Chetan,
I have read all books from you and loved each of them. Keep going….looking forward to many more from you
Lotsa cheers
Nidhi
I’ll say that the books you write do talk about the social evils in our society, rather than just being funny.
Your 1st book talked about how parents just force their kids to take up ambitions for which they don’t feel the same way.
The 2nd book talked about the youth’s lack of spiritualism in the present scenario.
3rd talked about the evil of the religious riots.
4th about the disconnect in our country when it comes to forming relations with people across the country.
Really a great effort and am happy that the books are helping in change the attitude of people across ages, regions and sex.
Go Chetan Go!!
Hi Chetan,
Kudos to u for ’2 States’. I have read it long b4 u came to Bglr for the launch. I was thr at Odyssey,Bglr on Sat. I am person who took reading as a serious affair very late. I first read ‘The Alchemist’, it inspired me a lot. And I am very happy to say that ur books also give me the same satisfaction that I get when I read Coelho. Very inspiring and close to heart.Go ahead, write many books..I ll read it till my family write the Epitaph on my tomb stone.
Hello Chetan,
Hi, i am shreyas, 17yrs, Bangalore
It was just awesome reading all your books upto date you have been a superb writer. To tell you frankly i just was going through one night in the call center a few months ago. Well that was the first book i read in my life i just don’t read story books. I was encouraged by my sis she was reading it one night and i asked here whats this new book you got she told me “One night at the call center”.
I was like well then fine give it to me i will read it for a while she never trusted me cause not once in life have i touched any story books. I spend all my time in front of computer designing for either ad agencies or for some other purpose as i am a graphic designer and a web designer.
that was the time you know i actually got into the habit of reading your my guru i don’t know but you are the one motivated me to read and i m proud to say that. Your books are soawesome my god the way yoou brought out the sequences is mind blowing.
So i just took time and i thought why not i write a book.
Well that’s weird but yea its true i am writing a book now completed the book. I don’y wanna reveal anything about it
but to the level of my language this is true sroty of 110 pages. Well i am just waiting for funds.
I am proud once again to say your my motivator and my guru towards the path of success.
And ya let me not forget your 2 states was another superb book. Keep Rocking.
Rgds,
Shreyas.V
Waiting for more books from you !
That’s a great piece of news. You are a hero, Chetan. I feel so bad now when I remember that I wasn’t able to meet you or even listen to you when you were there at my college. Had some other important work to do that time but the regret shall always stay with me unless I get to meet you someday. I have loved your books and have been a fan ever since I read FPS which I consider the best book that you have written. Looking forward to the release of 3 idiots and I am sure you must be excited to see the story unfold on the big screen. Best of Luck and please bring the fifth book soon.
just completed two states — very nice — superb sense of humour — the most important message for me is to take life lightly and enjoy the journey of life.a big thanks to u for writing such a nice book

“Hi Chetan…. I hv read all 4 books….2 States seems to be most realistic book written by you.. it touches heart…. other 3 hv sort of imaginations but this one is real, many ppl might have came across same kinda situation in their life…. . I njoied it thoroughly…… Eagarly waiting for ur next book . . Rgds. Sachin”
Hi Chetan,
I’m an avid reader of your books but never owned any of them. You will be happy to know that ’2 States’ is now part of my permanent collection and am sure this is one book which is going to be the Bible for many couples who are facing a similar situation due to the North South divide.
I’m also eagerly waiting for the release of 3 idiots and I sincerely hope the film does as well as the book. Its an added bonus that Aamir Khan is doing the film as I’m a huge fan of his films.
Wishing you all the very best. Hope you get a good theme to start on your next book soon.
Yours Truly,
Meenakshi.
Hi Chetan,
This is a big fan of urs, a girl who has started loving books and making them her friend just coz of u.
Lovely to hear that the book is bringing a change in society. Seems that u r achieving ur objective which u also mentioned in 2 states, becoming a writer “Someone who tells stories that are fun but bring about change too. The pen’s mightier than the sword, one of the first proverbs we learnt, isn’t it?”
So Chetan, “Isn’t it?”
Congrats…..:)
Eagerly waiting for 3 idiots.
Your regular reader, fan, admirer nd well wisher
Regards
Hey!

Way to go!
Hi Chetan,
I am a big tamilian fan of yours(Now settled in new Delhi)…actually to tell u the truth i read your book while coming from Chennai to New Delhi in the non stop Durranto express and i really enjoyed as i knew the two cultures personally…The way you started your dedication of this book actually many men will not have the guts to do so …hats off…then really when i read the first page where u said u ill make fun of south Indian people it really hurt me…but tell u frankly i have never saw any North Indian guy Vouch for us like you…thanks …and one more thing the other day i read a article where you said why you are pricing less then 100 rs per book ….that is very good idea of yours hope some other “”Indian”" authors follow this …i hope u know where i read that article(Its from Our HINDU)… Ok last this is my personal view please sell the rights of this book to a Tamil producer preferably either Prakash raj (In Tamil)or Dil Raju(in Telugu)if u have not heard about this names ask Anni she will help you because your first three novels were made in into Hindi films at least this you can make it in Tamil then we all believe what u told in the starting of the book….
Take care
cheers

Dear Chetan,
I have read all of your books. Your books reveal you are enjoy watching people and your mixture of facts and fantacy is excellent. I Have a request, I am not particularly interested in the rituals of our marriage. But I hope every ritual has a meaning. You have lot of fan following and when you write such books, you also try to explain the meaning also. Only rediculing makes us lough and forget the book. Atleast as a epilouge you can do this. This will enable people like us to undetstand why such rituals are in place.
thanks
siva
Hi Chetan,

Ennudaya valthukal ungalukum ungal manivikum, endrum anbudan
arun (have your wife’s help to read the above sentence).
Chetan,
We really needed someone who can make ppl break regional barrier. We live in globalized world but still some guy believes that his state is meant only for his state ppl. I hope ur book can at least educate young gen n force them to think n let their parents also think the same. Pls dont let ur pen stop moving!!

I want to say a big thank you – simply because, i read your book “2 States” in a span of 2 days! I want to confess that those two days were filled with enthusiasm and positive energy for me! I lose my self while reading your books. I aspire to find someone who was/is as committed as you were/are to Anusha!
Awaiting your next book eagerly.

Hi,

eagrly waiting for the next book…Wishing you all the best.
I liked the sarcasm in the book “2 states”…hopefully u will continue writing the way u do… liked ur book a lot.
Hi
I am a big fan of your books. I just finished reading 2 States; I have a small feedback on time line of story, as it oscillating between different years in middle of book, say dot com collapse happen around june/ july 2000, and in your book it seems to appear a year back because CSC (Concert Steering Committee) is formed after dotcom collapse and main character actually recommending his future mother is law songs from kaho na pyaar hain which happen to release in jan 2000. Also in year 2000 mobile charges are not equivalent to 1 litre petrol
. He he he. I know I am quite critical but still one of your biggest fan.
Thanks and waiting for more ..
Chetan
Well your 2 states was a bit too late to make a difference in my life – but thank you for writing it! really enjoyed reading it. Liked the fact that it had an ending (a happy one that too), unlike the hollywood style ending in 5 point someone, that made me feel uncomfortable that there was no closure to the book! Guess we feel good indians are used to a happy ending always.
cheers,
apoorva
Hi Chetan,
This novel is awsome! I just completed reading it and I think it was very Hilarious.
