    Hi Chetan,
Its 6.30 in the morning and 2states kept me up the whole night. I have just finished reading it and its simply superb. Indeed captivating. It was a mixed bag of emotions. I laughed along, imagined it as your story, got pissed when things were getting difficult for Ananya and Krish, refreshed my thoughts of arguements with my dad and lots more (guess we all like to pry in other ppl’s life with gr8 enthusiasm). Thanks for keeping me with myself for 2 whole days .. Best wishes for 2 States.

  3. shrikant says:

  5. sayak says:

    Hi Chetan,

I am a great fan of you and your books…I have read all your books more than 3 times….The specialty of yours books is that i can visualise every line in ur book….Look forward to your next book..Any hint on that ?

  9. sajida says:

loooking forward to ur next novel DESPERATELY

  10. krishna says:

You know chetan what makes you so special? Passion. You wrote in your third novel that you are not a great fan of cricket, but I think you should atleast follow Rahul Dravid, another man with the P thing. Blessed to have you two men as my idols. Anyway, somthing about me…

I am a journo with Reuters and most people of our tribe are generally cynics. But somehow I could not be a cynic of your writing. Instead, I end up fighting with my colleagues defending you. I can only say, don’t bother about critical acclaims, simplicity (simple wriring in your case) is tougher, you should know.

  11. Aniruddh says:

Happy Diwali Chetan! Guys are already so much in praise for you.I don’t know what else to mention or say. But,you indeed are an inspiration for many.Chetan! Why don’t you try writing on deeper subjects. The reason I say so is , there can’t be any wordsmith who can put the deepest of things easily into the mind of people with this utmost simplicity that you have. So, please I’m sure that you have many many more thoughts that would materialize into books. But, Chetan please give it a thought. And yes, you made us happy with this work as you always have done. “Illa Comparison to Cheatan” :)

  12. Tusshar says:

    Hi Chetan,

Just picked up the book being the usual crazy fan of urs…and I must say that I havent kept the book down yet ! U have written those things which are actually happening in my own home… and truly I am splits now. I have finished the book half…Curious to know whats following :)

I, generally, am not fond of reading. It takes me a good 3-4 months to finish a normal book. But, what to a say…a Chetan Bhagat book is a Chetan Bhagat book :| I’ve finished them all in less than two days time.

Please keep writing such brilliant stuff…Things which people can relate to. Absolutely love the wit, emotions and pain ur characters undergo.

Would like to see a film adaptation as well…perhaps with intelligent actors like Aamir Khan or Rani Mukherji in lead, who seem tailor made for the roles. Not like Hello, which was not up to the mark. Even if it does not happen, would like to read more of u….Waiting desperately for ur next work…before even finishing ur new book…lol.

God bless u and ur family,
    Tusshar

  13. rohit arora says:

  15. Radhika says:

    Hi,

Chetan, i finished ur book a few hours ago and i must say i couldn’t put it down, it veryyy captivating. I am very impressed how u have been sooo honest about your emotions in the story. I want to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart… you have brought the most appropriate and very much prevalent trend of asking for “Dowry” in our society.I wish i find a guy like you in my life who prefers Brains over Money and wants nothing in marriage since my family is totally against it including me. I want to thank you for highlighting this and also letting the world know through your book that we are “INDIANS” first and of any other religion afterwards.
    God Bless You!!!

  16. Prateek says:

    Hi chetan!

I am just another one from your huge database of your fans..
just completed your new book, the two sates….

I almost cried reading your novel…..

you said you wanted to bring a change in your readers….its already there in me…..actually my life is almost in a state of krish’s in your novel….and i was about to break up with my girlfriend…thanks, your book came in as a ray of hope,i really don’t want a break up……I’ll give it a fight now…

    Thanks, (alot actually)!

  17. Sumeer Sharma says:

2 states , Great work …..Chetan . but it seem since u are punjabi yourself , there was definite prejudice against Punjabis as they got the most “bashing”. I too believe that we should consider ourselves Indian first ….but yet we must mantain our indentities , values as Punjabis , Bengalis , Malayalees etc in Backdrop. Shud not be difficult I guess .

  18. Alokedeep Singh says:

I just finished reading your new book-2 States.

In fact have read all three earlier books of yours and would like to state that I see a lot of myself in what you write, even if it is coz we went to the same school-The Army Public School,New Delhi.

In 2 States-which I read and finished without sleeping last night,I see so many familiar moments that you mention and many of us(even though my wife is not from a different state) would have gone through.

All the best for your writing journey !

    Rgds,

    Alokedeep

  20. Devika says:

    Hey Chetan,
Love reading ur books..but one suggestion..concentrate more on the end of ur stories…u completely screw it..one night at call centre..din expect it dat way..work harder..I mean u love writing and we love reading ur books..but still somthin goes missing towards the end..

  21. Vinay says:

    hi Chetan,
I must say 2 states is awesome….i found this book to be very interesting, there is a reason behind it…i am a Non South Indian (currently in Delhi) who spend 3 yrs of his life in chennai….so i was able to visualize the things very clearly….some of the incident which has been written in the book actually happened with me also i.e. fight with autowalas….
Best wishes to you for your new book “2 states”
    Vinay

  23. Rekha says:

    Hi Chetan,

I finished reading 2 States 3 times in a row, back to back :D You are a wonderful, witty and warm writer, who pens magic with his words! Though I have read and loved all your previous works, I think this latest one is going to be my all time favourite…not just because it is your best work till now, but also because, being a Tamil Brahmin married to a North Indian (a Banker to boot and if this coincidence wasn’t strange enough, we too are settled in Hongkong, just like you and Anusha were!), there were so many instances and incidents in the book that I could relate to! And trust me, there was a constant grin on my face throughout…even though most of your punchlines were on the Tam Brahm Communit!!! Please keep writing and all the best for dealing with your in-laws after they have read your latest work :D God bless you!

    hi,

2 states is interesting & fun to read. You have mentioned perfect defination of MNC Managers.”Overpaid clerks with no common sense”
    Keepit up

  28. Amit Gupta says:

    Hi Chetan,

I finished reading your latest book “2 States” and quite liked it. It has Charishma of your first book “5 Point …”, its easy to guess that its based on your personal experiences. I liked your first book most, though was not very impressed with “3 Mistakes”. Your storytelling is great but there is a room for improvement in characterization. And as Mrinal mentioned, you should really work on the ending of your future books. Though ending of “2 States” is decent, but ending of “1 night..” and “3 mistakes” were quite abrupt and unconvincing.
“2 States” is a wonderful read with lots of humour and a very good message. A must read. Great work !!
Whats the secret behind having books titles starting with Numbers ;-) ?
    Regards,
    Amit Gupta

  29. Shreyas says:

Hey chetan .. just as the rest of these guys below, I’m a great fan of your books.
I’m not so good with words and I don’t want to sound like a wannabe .. so let me just put it this way – You are the person who inspired me to read novels (Seriously!). I know I share the same story with soooo many guys throughout India and I sincerely thank you for that.

The one thing I love about your novels is how well they relate to the lives of common man and the problems they face. Every novel of yours leaves an imprint in the reader’s mind, which he will always remember.

I haven’t read ’2 states’ yet .. I got a lot of expectations from it though. I hope it will be as good as the rest of your novels.

But what happened to Hari and Neha? This question will always haunt me ! :(

Anyway, keep up the good work!
My sincere wishes to you and your family.

    Shreyas.

  33. sanal says:

    hi

i would like to be frank….
After FPS, i had expected a lot from your books, but the two after that were ok by the standards that you had set.

But 2states brings you back on track of a indian story teller.

    Rgds,

    Sanal.

  34. sandeep kaur says:

hi chetan,i am reading ur book named ‘five point someone’ its realy good to read a book with easy and witty language.i will definitly read the new one also.

  35. Dheeraj says:

I am an ardent fan of yours.I have read 5 . some1 , 3 mistakes of my life and now reading 2 states.

One thing which I would like to ask is ” what is the change which you have brought thru the 4 books which you wrote?”

The msg which I cud think of frm 5 . some1 is ” Dont study like that in IIT ” from 3 mistakes of my life ” Love your friends” — what changes you were really trying to bring up thru these 2 books??

Books which I have read of urs were all awesome reads. After started reading 2 states, My eyes have started looking for ‘Ananya’ in office cafeteria and even when I am riding my bike (but whatz the point?) . I miss the way those lovers were missing each other. Yesterday I read till 2am, by today eve am going to finish it off :p

Thanks for making me read like this.

  36. Dr-Dew says:

    Hi,

Read ‘ 2 states’ recently. Quite humourous first 100 pages.Overall the novel was fun.Really its quite tough to compromise these days, with adamant independent and successful youngsters.People generally take the easy way out, not bothering to make everyone happy.Yours story is really incredible.

‘ IIT & IIM ‘ – Why so much stress on these words ? You hv used it atleast 5000 times. Gone are the days when you need to be from these institues to make it big. Making it big is not bigger a deal
now. In BPO , the VPs earn 25-50 lacs and they are simple graduates from lesser colleges.Things have changed a lot.

Moreover, most of the IITs spend their lifetime doing nothing and just bragging about IIT. Look at urself, you wasted 1 seat in IIT and 1 seat in IIM to become a writer.Investment bankers also dont require technical expertise for that matter.

Grow up & change, writer shouldn’t hv generation gap- you seem to be struck still in 1995, lot of water has passed down the bridge since.Improve you command on the language, you used the phrase ‘ my mother gave me dirty look ‘ at least 100 times.Being colloquial doesnt mean using one phrase 100 times.

You were an average student, average professional and now average writer But still achieved a lot and made it big.

    EXTREMELY LUCKY !!

  38. Sunayana says:

Last time I was in Pune when you came for the launch of “3 Mistakes” but unfortunately I was not knowing that you were in the town …on the next day when I saw your picture in newspaper I was so upset… How I missed such a big chance to meet Mr.Chetan Bhagat…on the very same day I decided to keep an eye on your blog so that I will not miss it again…But its my bad luck that I shifted to S’pore.

I read 2 States.Infact read all your books.2 states is really really awsome.I cld not take break even for a min while reading it.Really great.Wish You the best.Waiting for the next novel..

  45. Asha balakrishnan says:

I finished your book 2 states in just two days( could have finished in one go provided i did not work at home and at school, considering that i have two school going children as well- the work load was more) still it is a record. thanks to your writing. And the reading was more enjoyable because i could identify with all the places you mentioned in the chennai scene( i am a Tambrahm born in chennai and brought up in Bangalore). In fact my mom and dad were married in the same kalyana mandapam.
BTW i could also relate to the prejudice of the north indians and south indians. I now live in Secunderabad in a housing society which houses 300 families. This complex is a potpourri of all Indian states. Though we do live in harmony, I still feel there is a underlying feeling– she is a north indian, south indian etc.,

Any ways two thumbs up to your writing.
Keep coming up with more good ones.

  46. Hi Chetan,
Ur books have been my constant companions during business trips and nothing relaxes me more than reading them cover to cover while I am stranded at the airport :)
Just finished reading 2 States and let me compliment you that like the others, this one is also a good read. Waiting for the three idiots to hit the celluloid soon.
Keep writing, you are doing great and we love the way you tell your stories.
    With much admiration and regards
    Kanishka

  47. neha says:
